I miss LJ, but it's the community that I miss - which now doesn't exist for me. Very much like how I miss Second Life but whenever I go back, everyone has gone elsewhere.

Really, I'm just missing social structures that just don't exist any more. Nostalgia is so not helpful in these circumstances.

Ah. Yeah, I have a couple of political communities on LJ, some family, and a few other people for whom this is their personal blog. It's pretty thin now.

But then I have added new groups here, on Dreamwidth, and on Tumblr, at different points.

I guess people do move on. It's just finding what you can hang onto, and what you can move into.

It feels as if the social media scene has fragmented even more these days, though, and is in many ways more confusing and harder to find a community in - rather ironically, given the vast increase in numbers, though then again the increase has a different distribution of people in it.

If you're feeling uppity, there's a substantial f2b presence on the dreaded facebook. Sadly, it isn't the same as it was years ago, when social interaction on the 'net was more novel, and many of us had much more of an itch to scratch. Now most of us are caught up in the bullshit of our daily lives, and have far less time or energy to stir shit up.

Those were simpler times, back then.

I developed a bit of a Facebook allergy, which is mostly me being precious I suspect. I should probably make a bit more effort, maybe using one of my troll accounts as a real one.

My social network is a lot bigger than it used to be, and yet I have less and less to say the older I get. I could have several different social outlets, but I think Facebook most of the social interaction I need to (besides IRL). I've pretty much switched all but completely to FB. That said, I still check LJ every once and while, and you should get on it. I miss you!

I noticed that my friends page was kinda free of your posts, which I used to look forward to (on the infrequent occasions that I came back to LJ).

See, with apologies to the couple of actual friends I have on LJ, I never use it socially, just to consume pop culture. One of the few occasions being antisocial has not been a drawback I suppose.

Hey. What have you been up to? I had a second kid. Do you remember meeting my husband, Devin, when you visited SF and he was working at SL? He passed away in September. If you have any pics of him from that trip, I'd sure appreciate it. He was Michael Francis Linden.

Well, er, I don't really have a good response to that. "Sorry" sort of falls a bit flat.

I'm afraid I don't have any pics - I had a look but it seems that I wasn't taking many at that stage. If I find any I will let you know. I may have some ones from Second Life.

There isn't anything to say about it. I just wanted to let you know since you met him in SL and RL.
