Penguin Marginalia - The problem with people

The problem with people is that you talk to them politely for a bit so that you can work out whether or not they are arses, and then they turn out to be arses, but because you've just spent a while talking to them they think you like them and they don't go away. Particularly if they're drunk. In fact they might tell you how they're going to be back tomorrow as well.
