You wouldn't like an article as wide-eyed in tone as this even if you happened to agree with every word.

I agree it's a very odd piece to see in a non-tabloid, so presumably must show some agreement with editorial bias to have made it onto the website. Presumbly this comes under opinion rather than news, but I'd hope for less eulogising and more content.

He's the Guardian's chief leader writer as well, which says quite a lot about their editorial policy.

(Trivia: he's also Matthew Parris' long term partner apparently, they're civil-partnered. Odd that he seems to be the more Tory half now given that Parris was a Tory MP.)
