I hate the idea that any party, as a result of this election, will have a "mandate". Nobody I know has voted because they think "yes that is a party which represents my particular position, I trust them to legislate as I would see fit". Every single person, without exception, is voting either because they've always voted for party X, or because they want to keep another party out that they think will be even worse. That is not a mandate.

But they don't care. I don't actually care either - I used to seriously consider what my vote should be, but that was when I was young and stupid. Now I vote for tactical advantage, if there is any apparent, and if there isn't any I might not bother or I might vote for somebody useless. Who cares? This isn't politics, this is not how people actually influence events.

I always seriously consider my vote- it takes an hour (40 minutes this time actually) at a local hustings and it's always apparent who I can and can't vote for. I don't know why people do it in any other way.

I don't even remember posting that now.

I do actually seriously consider it to be honest, it's just that that consideration always ends up with my being completely dissatisfied and dispirited. I'm trying to console myself before the fact there I imagine.
