more pen

After the disappointment of the Tasche having a dubious ink feed - I've tried it several times since and it's still a pain, and the reason seems to be that the cartridge gets easily dislodged and stuck in the part you unscrew to access it, which is quite easy to fix by unscrewing and pushing it in but I don't want to have to do that every time I pick up a pen - I bought another compact one, though only from Smiths and for a third of the price or less.

This one is by Inoxcrom, a Spanish company, and I think might be a "kukuxumusu", which apparently means "flea's kiss" in Basque, though most of the kukuxumusus seem to have plastic bodies with cartoon characters on them, and this has a metal barrel. It doesn't look anywhere near as nice as the Tasche and is considerably larger, though still on the compact side for a pen. (I will post some photos when I can be bothered.) However, it writes extremely reliably. As soon as I took it out of the blister pack, inserted a cartridge and put nib to paper, ink began to flow without a problem, and it's not been at all inconsistent yet - it doesn't need shaking at all. I do realise that this was the sort of thing I said about the Tasche to begin with. It also has a nice fine nib, sharper than the Tasche. I suppose we'll see.

Well you know, I might have gotten a bad one. If it works for you, go for it.

have you seen the small bic fountain pens that screw inwards to become half the size of a regular pen? I bought one from WHSmiths a year or so ago, I think they still make them.

Yes, I saw a compact Bic in my local big Smiths - haven't tried it though. Looks quite similar only with a triangular grip.
