The police really think you are this stupid

In the context of a general campaign to promote the idea that the police have the legal power to take your camera away from you at any time for taking pictures of things they don't want you to, and also to arrest you and maybe beat you up a bit if you don't like it - something which has gotten some negative publicity, as it's one of those things journalists are never going to be very keen on, and also, oh yes, there was that bit where some coppers pushed a bloke over and killed him and then lied about it - the City Of London Police release some footage of stations taken by people who weren't indicated to be terrorists but were foreign and also up to no good, though not in an actual terrorist manner apparently.

Well that's me fucking convinced. Next copper I see I'm going to hand over all my cameras and perhaps beat myself about the head a bit.

If I photograph myself with my camera, not showing any background but outside St Paul's cathedral, am I automatically a terrorist? I think we should be told ...

Bit of good news on the civil liberties front around here: the Ohio Supreme Court has ruled that Ohio cops cannot search a cell phone without a warrant. Win.

I'm fairly sure they can't legally search a phone without arresting you first here - in which case it could be evidence like anything else - but of course they will *tell* you that they can, or that if you don't let them look (and delete your pictures probably) they'll arrest you.
