Okay, climbing onto my lap by the method of jumping onto my shin or thigh, inserting claws then pulling self up has to stop because it's getting actively painful now, past "ouch how cute ouch" towards more "jesus fucking christ argh get the fuck off me". And my left leg looks like someone has fired a double-barrelled shotgun loaded with wasps at it.

You must understand that any mention of Mimi must be accompanied by pictures - of her, not you.

We don't care about your scarred carcase, only little fluffikins.

Indoor cats need to have scratching posts so that their claws do not get too sharp. AND you may have to cut her claws quite regularly if she hasn't got something to scratch.

Yeah, nail trimming is key. Since she is still a bit of a thing, it's a good idea to start doing it now, so hopefully by the time she is five kilos of grown up cat, she'll be used to you doing it. Otherwise you'll have to have go to the groomer or vet - where I work it is $10 per trim, which adds up. We also do SoftPaws, but I don't know if they are really any better than regular trims: http://www.softpaws.com/.

I realized too late for this batch of cats that I really should have been handling them all through their kittenhood. IF I ever do the cat thing again, which isn't likely, I will keep all that in mind. It makes a huge difference.

My Baby did that to me for months, until the day he surprised me by jumping up the back of my legs when I wasn't looking. I jumped and kicked and he went flying. Poor Baby. But he never did it again.

OK, OK, all right... my ex-husband? We had a cat and Ex-H came out of the shower in his birthday suit one day... well... you know how cats like to swat at dangly bits.

Poor kitty, next thing he knew he was lying stunned at the base of the wall across the room after having left a nose-print on it.

Mike felt awful, and not just from the injury, but really, sometimes the ol' survival instinct just kicks in.
