The thing that's really irritating me about the whole al-Megrahi release thing is that he is clearly innocent and the entire conviction is a comically absurd political farce. I would challenge anyone but a cabinet minister or other experienced public liar to list the facts of the case against him and say they thought that was enough to convict somebody, without their expression cracking in some way.

It's been chased and investigated constantly since it happened and it just looks worse the more you read, but even just a simple summary should make anyone say "what? Really? That's what he got convicted by? That's not right."

Since when did being guilty or innocent have anything to do with politics - and oil! All's fair in love, hate and oil.

How is it that you are so sure al-Magrahi is innocent ? Why did the court come to a different decision ?

Because courts are run by human beings, and human beings have biases and make mistakes. And sometimes are conniving bastards looking to score political points.

It happens in the States too.

Fridge--Read an interesting idea not long after the release, that Iran and not Libya was actually behind the bombing. Or Iranians, I should say, in retaliation for that airliner of theirs that was shot down. It makes about as much sense as anything else.
