French toast with maple syrup and bacon

I thought I'd try this for the hell of it. The verdict is "okay but wouldn't have it again". Perhaps with more bacon and less toast, and also, hotter.

The bacon looks good, anyway. Looks like good proper American bacon and not some weird crap that Canadians or Australians would call bacon. *is very jingoistic about her bacon*

I like french toast, but this looks a bit different than how I make it. I haven't had it in a long time, though. Have you really never had it before, or just not with maple syrup and bacon?

I concur. More bacon, less French toast.

My daughter, who is four, calls them "French toast pancakes."

My family, who is Cajun, calls it pain perdu. It sounds more like "pa-pa-doo" when they say it. Cajun was on its way to becoming its own language, or at least a very strong dialect, when English-speakers intervened and Americanized us.
