I'm actually quite disappointed with mackerel.

My grandmother used to refuse to comtemplate eating mackerel on the grounds that it's "the scavenger of the sea". As opposed to those more morally palatable fish which have the gumption to get out there and hunt.

Clearly we cannot be eating any creature with loose morals. I'm a bit concerned about plants actually - do they toil or spin? No they do not. Probably on benefits.

Mackerel are stupid. They get stranded by the tides in great shoals, fishermen get them by the dozen and then boast about it - years ago where I live people could stand on the seashore and scoop them up in buckets. Smoked mackerel pate is the only thing that should happen to a mackerel and even then only with lots of herbs, butter and cream in it.

Fish should definitely be IQ-tested before we eat them.

Too bad about the disappointment. What were you expecting?

Something with either fewer bones, or larger and more manageable bones. I have a terrible fear of hidden fishbonery.
